About Team Sticky Fingers
Our mission: To encourage, support and empower all individuals identifying as WTFN-B (Women, Trans, Femme, and Non-Binary) to ride and race bikes within an inviting platform where we are ambassadors for the sport and our sponsors, as well as good stewards in the community by giving back to them. We are a team intended for genders underrepresented in cycling and do what we can to promote inclusivity in the sport.
You'll see us out throughout the race scene – crits, road, cross, mountain biking, time trials and even (gasp!) triathlons. For us, it's all about the power of the bike! We train hard, ride smart, and kick ass. In 2014, USA Cycling named us the Women's Club Team of the Year!
In addition to racing, we aim to be a fixture in the cycling community and we are committed to participating in local and national cycling advocacy groups, non-profits and organizations including Phoenix Bikes, Melanin Base Miles, and WABA's Women & Bicycles program. We take seriously the role that we have every time we go out there on our bikes whether during a race, training or just riding to work. We want to strengthen the presence of underrepresented genders on bikes through encouragement, support, and, most of all, laughter.
The team would also be no where without our awesome sponsors and their support of our mission. We hope that through our voices, presence at events and by cheering on everyone as they race, we we will help motivate more folks to #getoutandride.
Team Sticky Fingers doesn't really have an open enrollment time nor do we have spots that we try to fill - we fly by the seat of our pants! Check out our Facebook page and on Instagram to see what events we have going on and when we are recruiting...we'd love to meet you!

LISA JANCY - Colorado Chapter
Hometown/occupation: Pensacola FL/ I'm an elementary special education teacher.
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: My earliest memory of being on a bike was riding my purple Huffy with a banana seat. I would pedal hard and fast to keep up with my brothers on their bikes.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Having to experience racing UCI cyclocross. The other ladies in that field are super fast!
What got you into racing: I tried a few triathlons and didn't end up liking triathlons, but I enjoyed the cycling and swimming aspect. Burnt out from collegiate swimming I chose to stick with cycling. I love the cycling community in the DC Metro area.
Bike race where you can find me: A cyclocross race of course
Bike parts/products you can't live without: Chain lube and tubular cross wheels.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I enjoy rock climbing, climbing adventure trips outdoors, and exploring new recipes to cook.

CARIN JOHNSON
Hometown/occupation: Germantown, MD / Operations Manager for an Art Museum in D.C.
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: Learning how to ride a bike with my uncle and grandfather. All the various forms of friend rides and journey's I've collected living and riding in New England, NYC, SF, and now DC.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Any ride where I have returned home relatively unscathed to ride again tomorrow. But for reals any and all rides that have been several hours and 50 miles+.
What got you into racing: Meeting the Sticky Fingers Team via teammate Mallory and tagging along to races!
Bike race where you can find me: Most likely a gravel race and most consistently a Dirty Kitten one - though I would use the term "race" lightly - it's more soaking up the race camaraderie and spirit and challenging my limits racing myself.
Bike parts/products you can't live without: My bike. I once went and bought a new bike when I moved to a new city because waiting for my main ride to ship cross country was excruciating. Also good bib shorts and a contigo thermos that fits in my water bottle cage for coffee.
What do you love about riding in the DC area: I grew up here but didn't ride much beyond the canal and my neighborhood. Returning as an adult has me falling in love with the outer Montgomery County AG reserve, loving that I can string together multiple commute and fun rides through local trails and parks, and I am encouraged by how the bike infrastructure is growing via new paths and connected bike friendly transit like MARC and Metro. I have been on the fringes of several bike communities in the different places I have lived, but so far DC seems to have the most deeply connected and close knit community that I've pedaled into.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: Draw and doodle, read, hunt pastries, convince my cat cuddling is a treat, and try and make my partner simultaneously roll his eyes and belly laugh right before turning off the lights for bed.
