About Team Sticky Fingers

We are fun-loving ladies in the Washington DC area committed to riding and racing our bikes. You'll see us out throughout the race scene – crits, road, cross, mountain biking, time trials and even triathlons. For us, it's all about the power of the bike! We train hard, ride smart, and kick ass. Best of all...in 2014, USA Cycling named us the Women's Club Team of the Year!
In addition to racing, we aim to be a fixture in the cycling community and we are committed to participating in local and national cycling advocacy groups, non-profits and organizations including the Women's Cycling Association, WABA's Women & Bicycles program and Phoenix Bikes. In 2014, the ladies of Team Sticky Fingers completed over 500 volunteer hours with cycling organizations, community non-profits, local government and at fundraisers. We take seriously the role that we have as women on the road each and every time we go out there on our bikes whether during a race, training or just riding to work. We want to strengthen the presence of women on bikes through encouragement, support, and, most of all, laughter.
The team would also be no where without our awesome sponsors and their support of women in sports. We hope that through our voices, presence at events and by cheering on other ladies as they race, we we will help motivate more women to #getoutandride.
Team Sticky Fingers doesn't really have an open enrollment time nor do we have spots that we try to fill - we fly by the seat of our pants! But, we do aim to keep the size of the team small. We look for ladies that want to follow our mission of both racing but also encouraging others to race through support and lots of laughter. When we meet someone we'd like to join the team - we give them a heads-up! We love getting to know other lady racers so we look forward to hanging out with you on and off bikes!

EVELYN EGIZI
Hometown/occupation: Vineland, NJ (…the real reason it’s called the Garden State)/Quality Improvement Clinician, Anesthesiology (AKA: Anesthesia Police)
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: So Many! As a kid in South jersey, we rode everywhere from sun up to sun down, and we rode for miles. No parental restrictions. Moms never drove us anywhere. No one ever stole your bike. Just be home for dinner! My big ol’ bike had a front headlight built in the head tube and a place to put in D cell batteries. I (also) had a purple Stingray with a banana seat later…wish I still had it!
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Outside of dedicating 15+ years to developing women’s racing, leading a team, and active involvement with the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association, my best personal accomplishment was earning my first MABRA jersey for winning the Women’s Masters 45+ Criterium (2001?). I had been dropped from the field, dug in to catch back on, and parted the Red Sea to get on the fastest wheel for the win!
Bike race where you can find me: Cyclocross races, Duathlons, mountain bike events, gravel rides…but no more crits!
Bike parts/products you can't live without: NEED my 10-speed (or less) groupos (preferable Shimano). Too many bikes/wheels to make the change for more gears.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I am inherently lazy, so when not training for some upcoming event, I love to hang out with my dawgs (Mr. Bud & Lola), do crossword puzzles, hang out with the Huz, who loves to watch TV. Otherwise, Skiing, running, camping, bird watching, traveling with my bike, Jack.

LISA JANCY
Hometown/occupation: Pensacola FL/ I'm an elementary special education teacher.
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: My earliest memory of being on a bike was riding my purple Huffy with a banana seat. I would pedal hard and fast to keep up with my brothers on their bikes.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Having to experience racing UCI cyclocross. The other ladies in that field are super fast!
What got you into racing: I tried a few triathlons and didn't end up liking triathlons, but I enjoyed the cycling and swimming aspect. Burnt out from collegiate swimming I chose to stick with cycling. I love the cycling community in the DC Metro area.
Bike race where you can find me: A cyclocross race of course
Bike parts/products you can't live without: Chain lube and tubular cross wheels.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I enjoy rock climbing, climbing adventure trips outdoors, and exploring new recipes to cook.

Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Showing up at the start line for my first ever cross race and then doing another...and another. :) And, that little thing called the Hains Point 100.
Bike race where you can find me: Time trials!

What do you love about riding in the DC area: You can get any type of rides you'd like by going a very short distance.

SARA LAPPANO
Hometown/occupation: Harrisburg, PA./Electrical Engineer
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: I did a lot of cycling growing up, so I have some great memories of doing long rides on country roads near my home in PA and going on cycling vacations in Vermont.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: I’m still fairly new to bike racing, so my biggest accomplishment so far is training for and successfully completing an Ironman triathlon in 2016. The 112 miles on the bike was my longest ride yet!
Bike race where you can find me: I love both DCCX and Charm City CX for their urban locations, the awesome crowds, and elite racers that they attract.
Bike parts/products you can't live without: The Clug bike clips that help me store 4 bikes in my apartment!
What do you love about riding in the DC area: It’s so cool that I live in the middle of a big city, but can drop down into Rock Creek Park and ride on beautiful country roads without having to get in my car.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I enjoy competing in triathlons and going on camping trips with friends.

AMY LUEBBERING
Hailing from Alexandria, you’ve probably seen her serious race face at CX and garage races. She is looking forward to getting stronger in the saddle after nursing an injury last year by dipping into road and time trials again. She also looooves a good gravel grinder, in fact, she looks at her completion of GRUSK to be one of her most awesome bikey accomplishments.
