About Team Sticky Fingers
We are fourteen fun-loving ladies in the Washington DC area committed to riding and racing our bikes. You'll see us out throughout the race scene – crits, road, cross, mountain biking, time trials and even triathlons. For us, it's all about the power of the bike! We train hard, ride smart, and kick ass. Best of all...in 2014, USA Cycling named us the Women's Club Team of the Year!
In addition to racing, we aim to be a fixture in the cycling community and we are committed to participating in local and national cycling advocacy groups, non-profits and organizations including the Women's Cycling Association, WABA's Women & Bicycles program and Phoenix Bikes. In 2014, the ladies of Team Sticky Fingers completed over 500 volunteer hours with cycling organizations, community non-profits, local government and at fundraisers. We take seriously the role that we have as women on the road each and every time we go out there on our bikes whether during a race, training or just riding to work. We want to strengthen the presence of women on bikes through encouragement, support, and, most of all, laughter.
The team would also be no where without our awesome sponsors and their support of women in sports. We hope that through our voices, presence at events and by cheering on other ladies as they race, we we will help motivate more women to #getoutandride.

Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: 7 years old I got a bike for Easter, I remember my Dad pushing me along and getting scraped up knees every time I fell over and kept going until I got the hang of it. After that - "let's go ride bikes" was my favorite thing to do with my friends.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Climbing the Col du Tourmalet from the East and West sides during the 2010 TdF.
Bike race where you can find me: Church Creek TTs
Bike parts/products you can't live without: My bikes - the whole thing.
What do you love about riding in the DC area: Getting to see parts of MD, DC and VA that I would never go to off the bike.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: Cook for my friends, drink wine and occasionally pull weeds in my garden.
What is your favorite post ride snack/meal/drink from Sticky Fingers: Cowvins!

Biggest cycling related accomplishment: I feel accomplished each time I line up for a race start and each time I cross the finish line. Hard to pick any one occasion. I was proud of myself for showing up to CX Nats and racing with the big girls last season (Jan 2015). That was pretty gutsy.

PATRICIA LEDESMA
Hometown/occupation: I would call Lima, Peru, my hometown. Where have I lived? Germany, Mexico, Peru and now the US. I work as an economist at a financial regulation agency
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: I rode to primary and secondary school in a 1950s bottle green Monark bike, single gear, coaster brakes, white tires. I also rode to work in Lima for a while, but only bought my first road bike in 2003, a nicer one at the end of 2010. I joined a small women's ride out of a nearby shop and eventually was convinced to race in 2013.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Hmm. I would say riding the "half pint' course of the Dirty Kanza (111 miles of coarse gravel in Kansas) and riding the Triple ByPass in Colorado (118 miles over 3 mountain passes) are accomplishments for the year.
Bike race where you can find me: Just riding, long rides, gravel rides and the Horribly Hilly Hundreds and the Dairyland Dare in Wisconsin.
Bike parts/products you can't live without: My bikes
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: Read, listen to music.

STACEY BRAN
Hometown/occupation: Park Ridge, NJ (but NOVA is now home) / Interior Designer
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: I used to ride my 10-speed, purple St. Tropez almost every day after school in 5th & 6th grades. I would go flying down a very steep street we called "suicide hill" - no helmet, no hands. Pretty dangerous and stupid in hindsight! ;)
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Standing on the top spot of the podium at PsychoCross CX on my birthday in 2014. It was an amazing feeling to win a race, and even more special that it was on my birthday. Plus, I won a pie prime from Acme Pies - delicious!
Bike race where you can find me: DCCX. It's really the hallmark of the MABRA calendar, and such a fun, challenging, and spectacular event.
Bike parts/products you can't live without: My Hoo-Ha Ride Glide. No explanation needed! And my Cervelo R5 - she's such a beauty!
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I love to hang out with my boyfriend and my dog - they're great company. I also love to travel abroad, and I always try to ride a bike in whatever country I'm in!

Bike race where you can find me: Most of the Super 8 series—outside the tape for the Juniors race yelling my head off as a super fan and this year in the beginners race!
Bike parts/products you can't live without: Hoo Ha Ride Glide… That stuff is amazing.

SARA LAPPANO
Hometown/occupation: Harrisburg, PA./Electrical Engineer
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: I did a lot of cycling growing up, so I have some great memories of doing long rides on country roads near my home in PA and going on cycling vacations in Vermont.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: I’m still fairly new to bike racing, so my biggest accomplishment so far is training for and successfully completing an Ironman triathlon in 2016. The 112 miles on the bike was my longest ride yet!
Bike race where you can find me: I love both DCCX and Charm City CX for their urban locations, the awesome crowds, and elite racers that they attract.
Bike parts/products you can't live without: The Clug bike clips that help me store 4 bikes in my apartment!
What do you love about riding in the DC area: It’s so cool that I live in the middle of a big city, but can drop down into Rock Creek Park and ride on beautiful country roads without having to get in my car.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I enjoy competing in triathlons and going on camping trips with friends.

KATIE GILES
Hometown/occupation: Born in and loyal to, our nation's capital, Washington D.C. I'm a dual masters prospect, currently seeking employment to utilize these hard earned degrees in the field of International Development and Public Administration, resume can be provided upon request. ;)
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: I grew up in a family of hand-me-downs. I learned how to ride on a child sized bike, affectionately nicknamed my clown bike, and it was nearly impossible to ride it without scraping my knees on the handlebars.
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Learning how to ride a me-sized bike as an adult and then spontaneously forcing myself to learn how to ride clipped in on a single speed about 30 seconds before a 2 hour ride in the steep mountains of Deep Creek.
Bike race where you can find me: Up to try anything!
Bike parts/products you can't live without: I'm told my helmet is going to save my life one day, so I'm going to go with that.
What do you love about riding in the DC area: There is no faster way to get to work and every office I've worked has showers/locker rooms so there's no excuse not to bike commute! It's also the best way to show visitor's around!!
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: Workout some more, cooking (to fuel me for workouts), and as a true millennial, I enjoy my share of Netflixing (to recover for future workouts).

EVELYN EGIZI
Hometown/occupation: Vineland, NJ (…the real reason it’s called the Garden State)/Quality Improvement Clinician, Anesthesiology (AKA: Anesthesia Police)
Earliest/best memory of being on a bike: So Many! As a kid in South jersey, we rode everywhere from sun up to sun down, and we rode for miles. No parental restrictions. Moms never drove us anywhere. No one ever stole your bike. Just be home for dinner! My big ol’ bike had a front headlight built in the head tube and a place to put in D cell batteries. I (also) had a purple Stingray with a banana seat later…wish I still had it!
Biggest cycling related accomplishment: Outside of dedicating 15+ years to developing women’s racing, leading a team, and active involvement with the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association, my best personal accomplishment was earning my first MABRA jersey for winning the Women’s Masters 45+ Criterium (2001?). I had been dropped from the field, dug in to catch back on, and parted the Red Sea to get on the fastest wheel for the win!
Bike race where you can find me: Cyclocross races, Duathlons, mountain bike events, gravel rides…but no more crits!
Bike parts/products you can't live without: NEED my 10-speed (or less) groupos (preferable Shimano). Too many bikes/wheels to make the change for more gears.
What do you like to do when you're not on your bike: I am inherently lazy, so when not training for some upcoming event, I love to hang out with my dawgs (Mr. Bud & Lola), do crossword puzzles, hang out with the Huz, who loves to watch TV. Otherwise, Skiing, running, camping, bird watching, traveling with my bike, Jack.
